The Wolf Among Us


The Wolf Among Us is a game of point and click on PCadapted from the eponymous comic strip in which the characters of traditional tales unite against a powerful enemy. In just a few minutes, The Wolf Among Us manages to lead us in his particular universe. Even without necessarily knowing the series, it plunges with pleasure in the middle of these characters treated much differently compared to their popular variations as we know it all. The game system has already proved its worth in The Walking Dead, now expected to learn more about the scenario. The wait may be short since The Wolf Among Us due out late September or early October.

In response to the incredible success of The Walking Dead, studio Telltale Games update now on the adaptation of comic Fables, a series in which the characters live now reclusive in New York in the middle of the population. Shortly before the first episode of the game way, we could find the earliest minutes of the adventure in the company of the big bad wolf.

Forced to flee their world of Tales by a powerful opponent, the Fables are now grouped together in Fableville, in the New York. The community is organized under the orders of snow white, while the big bad wolf, said Bigby, plays the role of Sheriff. All the characters unable to take human form (think for example to the three little pigs) are sent to the farm, away from prying eyes. However, there is an elixir, Glamour, allowing one who drinks it to a human for some time. But Glamour has a price, that makes that climb over the weeks.

The Wolf Among Us PicturesTo adapt the comics, Telltale has chosen to embody Bigby. The adventure begins while the Wolf responds to the call of Toad, a frog who complains that made noise the woodcutter, his tenant, in the apartment of the top. Woman shouts and threats emanate from the gate, Bigby must intervene. Must knock at the door, the smash a foot? Should we then reason with the woodcutter, pass it to tobacco? As in The Walking Dead, player is beset by multiple decisions to take in a blink of an eye, often in the heat of the action. The story then adapts to each choice to provide a different and adapted to each path. The system is exactly the same that the game of zombies, several choices appear on the screen, and the player has only a few seconds to validate that which seemed most appropriate. Phases of action speakers also and this is to respond to commands that appear on the screen (in the kind of simplistic Qty.) or directing a target to the correct position before you post with a touch. It is however possible to influence on the sequence of events in full fight by choosing for example such or so target to activate. On the bottom, everything remains very similar to The Walking Dead but with perhaps more choice.

What distinguishes Fables of the previous game is clearly its atmosphere a little more flashy borrowed from comics and especially the fact that it embodies the big bad wolf. We are no longer Lee Everett, the stranger who was trying to hide his past to the other survivors of The Walking Dead. All the characters in Fables already know Bigby and which it is capable. Its relations with the rest of the cast shape therefore a completely different approach in how to approach the game. The scene with the lumberjack is a good example because it's the same woodcutter who cut the belly of the Wolf in little Red Riding Hood fable. The confrontation with Bigby is so full of references that you will obviously leave you discover. With respect to the general scenario, we are still on our hunger. This introduction was successful, but we must admit that the story arc is still a large question mark for now. It is however on this point is played largely the success of The Wolf Among Us. The Walking Dead was wonders since he was constantly playing with our emotions. The register of Fables is totally different, there are not likely to find the same kind of dilemmas. This surprise me for example need to at some point choose which save between Pinocchio and Tom Thumb. And if ever that were to happen, I doubt that this choice pulls a tear in that whatsoever. Surely, Telltale has already considered the question and knows how he lead his boat over the five episodes of the season. Let us hope that the trip will be equally intense. Different, but intense.
